【about design】
I have experimented with a new stitch pattern which looks like a macramé motif. I like the combination of this lovely rustic lamb wool yarn and my new macramé stitch pattern very much. You can choose 2 different circumference for voluminous neck ribbing, smaller (white) or wider neckline (beige). The wider neckline has 10 cm /4 inches bigger circumference than the smaller one and goes just across the collarbone. It creates more a feminine look.
I have also knitted one more Macrame Motif Sweater with mohair yarn. The mohair sweater (dark beige) has soft and elegant texture with beautiful silk shimmer.
It is top down sweater pattern. Please try the sweater on and adjust your favorite body and sleeve length.
I hope you can enjoy knitting! ―Midori Hirose

★Yarn & Yardage:
Yarn: 4 (4, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5, 6)(6, 6, 7) skeins of Biches & Bûches Le Gros Lambswool (100% pure lambswool; 192 meters/100g), or approximately 628 (671, 705, 740)(809, 905, 946, 999) (1055, 1114, 1171) meters / 688 (734, 771, 809)(884, 989, 1033, 1091)(1151, 1216, 1278) yards of aran weight wool yarn.
If you have worsted or DK weight of yarn, you can knit with 2 or 3 starnds of mohair lace yarn held together.
★Gauge(after blocking):
13 sts x 21 rows = 10 cm /4“, with main needle in stockinette stitch after wet blocking.
My sample sweater gauge before wet blocking with Le Gros Lambswool was 14 sts & 19 rows. After wet blocking, vertical length becames approximately 10 % shorter and Horizontal length 7% longer.
★Needles & Notions:
6.0 mm / US 10 needle as main needle, 5.0 mm / US 8 for neck, hem and cuff. Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.
9 stitch markers (8 for raglan & 1 for EOR), tapestry needle, waste yarn.
Mohair Sweater
Yarn: 4(5, 5, 5) (5, 6, 6, 6)(7, 7, 7) ball of Biches & Bûches Le Gros Silk & Mohair (72% Mohair, 28% Silk; 150 meters/50g) = 600 (635, 665, 695)(750, 830, 865, 900)(955, 1005, 1050) meter / 656 (694, 727, 760) (820, 908, 946, 984)(1044, 1099, 1148) yards.
If you have lace weight mohair yarn, you can knit with 3 starnds of yarn held together. (See video “knit with 3 strands from 1 ball”)
Mohair sweater has same horizontal gauge (stitches) and different vertical gauge (rows). Therefore it has different yardage and vertical length (lower body and sleeve). Row numbers in the pattern are written for the lamb wool project. If you knit with mohair yarn, please try the sweater on and adjust vertical length. I have witten vertical length together with row/round numbers, so that you can knit this sweater with different vertical gauge (rows). I have used same needle size as lamb wool project.
