【about design】 A sweater inspired by Paul Klee’s paintings. You will play with colors and develop their combinations with square motifs. You can mix and match many colors, or use just a few, for example 4 to 6 colors. For the sample sweater’s combo, I picked up the colors you can find in the painter’s palette. I knitted the sample sweater with Spindrift from Jamieson’s of Shetland, frequently used for Fair Isle sweaters. Available in a range of over 200 shades including many heathered ones, this beautiful yarn allows you to knit garments in nuanced colors like those used in paintings. The sweater is light thanks to a gauge much looser than that of traditional Fair Isle sweaters. If you are used to stranded knitting, this loose gauge may surprise you. If you have trouble achieving the pattern gauge, you can work with a thicker yarn or add a lace weight yarn. Using two yarns with different colors together will add depth to the shades and produce a lovely combination.
