We knit the side border in stockinette stitch first, then make a few decreases to give good elasticity to it. Then we start knitting in garter stitch at the bottom corner and work short rows upwards at regular intervals until the body is filled up and this, with no increases. We just need to knit the top border in stockinette stitch to finish the shawl. The shape variations are created by changing the decrease and short row intervals. This is a perfect portable project, as you will not need to refer to the instructions to work the garter triangle short rows once you have memorized its principle.
